The Story Behind Manguare: A Legacy of Creativity and Love

From a very young age, I felt a deep affinity for manual arts, something I undoubtedly inherited from my maternal grandmother. She was a loving and joyful woman, a mother of 12 children, who, despite being a widow since I was four years old, always kept her spirits and joy high. An indefatigable knitter, she worked with needles, did crochet, and never stopped weaving on her old sewing machine. This machine became her workshop, the place where she brought to life the most imaginative Halloween costumes my sister and I dreamed of. My grandmother instilled in me a passion for manual work and the value of learning something new, always saying: “it will serve you at some point.” And she was undoubtedly right.
From her, I began to inherit my love for crafts, but my mother, a brave and determined woman, also played a crucial role. She always strived to create a loving home, inventing games, organizing neighborhood outings to integrate us, and sewing the most beautiful dresses for my sister and me. Furthermore, during our childhood and adolescence, crafts, or “little projects” as she called them, offered us constant learning opportunities: from filigree and Christmas decorations to fabric embroidery techniques. My mother learned new techniques in courses to stay busy and motivated, and encouraged us to venture into entrepreneurship, whether by selling our products or teaching classes in our garage to neighbors and others interested.
As a result, without realizing it, everything I learned over the years became the essence of Manguare. This project, which I am now passionate about, reflects the legacy of creativity and love passed down from my grandmother and mother. In another post, I will share how this legacy, along with the decisions I made in my life, led me down inspiring paths full of learning, ultimately bringing us to what you now know as Manguare. I am excited to share this exciting story with you through our brand.
