Colombia’s Coffee Region (Eje Cafetero) is one of those places where the landscapes, traditions and culture make you fall even more in love with the country.
A few years ago, we had the opportunity to explore this beautiful region and visit Cocora Valley, famous for its breathtaking green mountains and towering wax palms, Colombia’s national tree. Located near the colorful town of Salento, it’s approximately a 6–7 hour drive from Medellín, making it a wonderful destination to include on a trip through Colombia.
The Coffee Region gets its name, of course, from its deep connection to Colombian coffee. Here, coffee farms, small towns, mountains and generations of coffee-growing traditions come together to create a landscape and culture unlike anywhere else.
For us, visiting this region was about more than beautiful views. It was a chance to experience another side of Colombia—its countryside, traditions, people and, naturally, some amazing coffee.
If Colombia is on your travel list, don’t miss the opportunity to explore the Coffee Region and Cocora Valley. It truly is a place that smells like coffee and tradition. ☕🌿🇨🇴
